This page is for Verithin refurbishments.

The guitars do feature in the main body of the website,
but I think that they deserve their own pages.

1960 HOFNER VERITHIN

1963 HOFNER VERITHIN

An interesting guitar, has been professionally re finished in a nice shade of dark green.
The pickups and all the controls have been changed, as have the tuners.
A non standard 3 way switch has also been added and the Bigsby was an original feature.
The guitar is a working instrument and can be seen here

1964 HOFNER VERITHIN

When this guitar came into the possesion of it's current owner, it was pretty much a wreck.
It's been sympathetically restored, and finished in a very non standard oiled finish.
A pickup selector switch has been introduced and a pair of P90 Pickups have been installed.

1965 HOFNER VERITHIN

An original 1965 Verithin body, which has been striped to the bare wood and re finished in the brown/blonde look. Different electrics and machine heads, and a new neck which is not correct for the year make for a very nice guitar, which I’m sure will play very well.
So a Verithin + parts.

1967 HOFNER VERITHIN DELUXE

Three pot version with 3 way switch and blade pickups.

This one was a bit of a wreck when I bought it, held together by one string, and a horrible rattle from inside the body

Richard Bartrum in Cambridgeshire did a great rebuild to the structure, and completely rewired the guitar. I specifically asked him not to re finish the colour as I like to see some of the battle scars that tell the story of the life of myguitars

Formerly owned by Steve in Liverpool.
Now owned by Geoff Walton

A major restoration project.

Late 1960's/1970's 4575 BASS GUITAR

The guitar was discovered painted in a very rough white finish and has been restored back to its original red body finish.
Three pickups, similar to those fitted on the Hofner 4575 model, make this bass very unusual and very special!
The electics are passive, but fitted with a variable difference level solo/rhythm switch.Schaller bass tuners are fitted - probably the originals as fitted in the factory.

It is owned by Silas

Germany.

Mid 60's HOFNER MODEL 4575

An awful example of the 4575 guitar, red finish by hand, including all the switch panels!

An example of how not to refurbish a guitar.

Owned in Germany

1962/63 4574

Someone has had a go at this one with a pot of white paint!!

Currently undergoing a full restoration
