Selmer Verithin Bass
Based
on the Hofner Verithin six string semi, and hence featuring a double-cutaway
body with a 1.25" depth. In the UK Selmer catalogues from 1963 until 1971.
Single dot fret markers and unbound fingerboard was used initially, followed
very soon by a bound neck and bar type fret markers as on the 6 string
Verithin.
The European/US equivalent was the Model 500/7.

A very interesting guitar with 3 switches for volume and tone and a 3 way pickup selector switch.
The serial number suggests that this was the last Verithin Bass to be made and the label says Verithin 5148 The pots are stamped 240, therefore mid June 1970

A near-mint example, this guitar sets out to be something that it really isn't. As far as I know, no basses were made by Hofner in the configuration shown in the pictures ie Pickups with only a Diamond impressed into the top and a rectangular control panel, the pickguard is also wrong for this guitar and the tuners are very non original. Conclusion, someone has taken a bare verithin body, added a normal bass neck and all the bits from the reproduction guitars that Hofner now sell [Club for instance]
