Verithin "66" Florentines

At the end of 1965 Hofner introduced a slightly different Verithin, same 1 1/4" body thickness, but now with Florentine horns, this guitar was also available as a Stereo guitar, catalogue number 5138. This stereo guitar sold for £80 guineas[ £80 and 80 shillings in old money!] The standard guitar was £65 guineas.

So far no stereo versions have been discovered.

1965 HOFNER VERITHIN DELUXE

At the end of 1965, Selmer asked Hofner to change the UK Verithin from double Venetian cutaways to Florentine. This is an immaculate example of this variant.

1966 HOFNER VERITHIN "66"

A left hand Verithin '66, not seen one of these before, seems to have had some re arrangement to the pots to make it a 4 pot sytem and a pickup selector switch has been added as well. The tailpiece and tuners are not authentic.

Again there are two numbers typed on the label, first is the serial number1415, the second is Verithin 5137 [the catalogue number for the Florentine Verithin '66]. This is probably the last Verithin to leave the Hofner factory, bound for Selmer in the UK. The serial number is just beyond the last number on the Selmer chart on the Hofner site.
