This one's turned blonde! Just the top striped, a nice job too.
One of the earlier sterio guitars.

My father learnt to play on it and has told me he paid £60 for it back in the 60's.
He played in two bands with it during the 60's and 70's using Colorsound Wah Wah, Colorsound ToneBender Fuzz and Watkins Copicat delay.
They played through a WEM P.A. System.

An interesting guitar, it's a sterio but the switching has been modified to two toggle switches instead of the more normal 4 position rotary switch. The tailpiece is not a Hofner original.

He has an interesting tale to tell

Hi everyone, I have a tale to tell. My dad passed away a couple of years ago. he was a working musician in the 60's and 70's and he gigged with a Verithin, that has now found it's way into my hands. The story goes that at one point in the early 60's, his band were going places and acquired a manager who took them down to tin pan alley & told them to get new gear - my dad couldn't decide between the Verithin and wait for it... a '57 gold top Les Paul. D'oh! Anyway, he plumped for the Hofner and it's been left in it's case since my dad packed up playing in about 1976. I've played for about twenty years and I know my way round a guitar, although I'm a strat man personally, owning two - one new and one '74 CBS model, I've always liked the feel of the Verithin, it's a highly playable guitar. Mine has good intonation, a straight neck, good original paintwork and no significant chips or dents. I'm not so confident on the electrics however, there is a fifth knob on the guitar that I haven't seen on other verithins, that crackles and cuts the output unless it is fettled - the electrics look like they need attention. Also not sure if the machine heads have been replaced?? The serial no. is 2031 which at a guess makes it a '63 and as pictured, the Hofner sticker does describe it as a stereo - which is what made my dad choose it over the Les Paul in the first place. What I'm looking to find out is whether the fifth knob is an addition by someone - I don't recall my dad mentioning it.It is not going to be sold - too sentimental for me to allow that.

An interesting guitar, has been professionally re finished in a nice shade of dark green. The pickups and all the controls have been changed, as have the tuners. A non standard 3 way switch has also been added and the Bigsby was an original feature. The guitar is a working instrument and can be seen here
